Empowering the Next Generation: Free IP Workshops for Students and Creatives

At LegallyBlack, we are committed to nurturing innovation among youth and creative communities. Our free workshops are specifically designed for middle school, high school, and college students, as well as creative groups, providing essential knowledge about Intellectual Property (IP) law.

We simplify the complexities of IP protection, breaking down copyrights, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets into easily digestible concepts. By equipping our students with a foundation of practical tools to protect their creative works, we help ensure that their ideas and innovations are safeguarded in today’s digital and entrepreneurial world.

Our workshops encourage young creators to explore their potential, understand their rights, and discover opportunities within intellectual property law that can help them thrive in their creative and professional pursuits.

On July 31, 2024, LegallyBlack proudly partnered with Just the Beginning, an organization dedicated to inspiring young students and enhancing diversity in the legal profession and judiciary, along with the American Bar Association IP Section. Together, we hosted an engaging half-day workshop and IP Creation Lab™ for middle school students, featuring hands-on activities led by attorney volunteers hosted at Sidley Austin LLP.

“The workshops have been transformative for my students. LegallyBlack effectively uses relatable examples such as TikTok, music, and popular logos to explain the importance of intellectual property law in everyday life. This approach sparked meaningful conversations among my students about how IP law applies to their own creative projects and the ways it protects their ideas. By presenting these topics in an engaging and accessible way, LegallyBlack has empowered my students to think critically about the value of their creative assets and how to protect them.”
